Brenda Hoddinott is an award-winning artist, internationally-published author of art instruction books, retired forensic artist, illustrator, art educator, and curriculum designer.
Born in 1952, Brenda taught herself to draw while growing up in the small town of Corner Brook, Newfoundland. At age 17, after graduating from a one-year commercial art course, she was employed as a layout artist and copywriter.
By 1976, she was writing curriculum and teaching drawing classes for children and adults. From 1976 to 2002, she served as a forensic artist for provincial detachments of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, municipal police departments, and federal and private investigative agencies.
In 1993, Brenda began the application process to become a full member of Forensic Artists International and was awarded a Certificate of Membership in 1994. She retired from her twenty-five-year career as a forensic artist in 2002 to expand her writing career into authoring educational drawing books. Drawspace.com was launched by Jeff Baur and Brenda on February 2, 2005 and has been growing steadily ever since.
